Two Truths and a Lie (Parallelograms-Style!)

Admittedly, I have stolen this idea from the GREAT @mathequalslove... but I have finally found a way to use it with geometry!

Here's what happened. Students came in to a "two truths and a lie" on the board.

This acted as our "warm-up." They spent time proving or dis-proving each quadrilateral and found which one I was "lying" about. I allowed students to use any coordinate method that they wanted for this.

Next, each student got a half piece of paper and created their own "two truths and a lie" and used some graph paper to help them create these. There were papers of 4 different colors, each with a different theorem written on them.

Once all students had their two truths and a lie, they got in groups of four by finding one person of every colored paper. This way, each student came with a different theorem and I could make sure each student practiced each theorem. Students rotated papers and completed coordinate proofs at this point.

I felt that many students actually liked the mystery of finding out which was the lie, and they also enjoyed being able to make their own in an effort to "trick" their classmates.

Here are the links to files for your use! :)

One thing I wish I had done was to make a more structured paper for them to use during their proofs stages, so that they had more concrete products from that. So that's my advice for anyone who might use this!
